At Biocon and Syngene International, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been an integral part of business since inception. Biocon Foundation, the CSR arm of the two companies, is engaged in providing sustainable solutions to address the myriad developmental challenges in India. Our CSR initiatives, started in 2004, are based on the principle of making an enduring impact through programs that promote social and economic inclusion. Biocon Foundation is focused on four key thematic areas of intervention; healthcare, education, environmental sustainability and rural development. The Foundation has forged meaningful partnerships with government agencies for solutions to address the issues of sustainable development.
The Foundation brings effective primary healthcare services to the doorstep of underprivileged sections and it models new approaches for public healthcare delivery. The innovative education programs aim to make a difference in the lives of students enrolled in government schools. To improve the standard of living of rural communities, the Foundation invests in basic infrastructure and social services. Responsible practices in the area of environmental protection and conservation of natural resources have resulted in path-breaking results. In addition, the Grant-in-aid initiative has rendered financial support to worthwhile projects.
